Fresh Mulch for Cleaner, Healthier Beds

Arbuckle Outdoor Living offers mulch installation and mulch delivery in Indianapolis and the surrounding towns. Fresh mulch is one of the quickest ways to make a yard look cared for. It also helps beds hold moisture through hot summers and keeps weeds down. If you want it spread, we install it. If you would rather do the work yourself, we can deliver it. Mulch also pairs well with new plant and garden installation or a spring seasonal cleanup.

Mulch Delivery in Indianapolis

Some homeowners like to spread their own mulch. For them, bulk mulch delivery saves a trip and a loaded-down truck. If you're shopping for mulch in Indianapolis, tell us roughly how much bed area you have when you ask for a quote, and we can help you figure out how much to order.

Why Fresh Mulch Matters

Mulch does more than look good. A layer over the soil helps hold moisture, keeps weeds from taking hold and evens out soil temperatures. Over time, it breaks down and thins out, which is why most beds look best with a fresh layer added every year or two.

Depth matters too. Purdue Extension recommends about 2 to 3 inches in most planting beds, pulled back a little from tree trunks and plant stems. Piling mulch up against a trunk, the so-called mulch volcano, can hold moisture against the bark and harm the tree.

Questions & Answers

Mulch Installation FAQs

Still have a question? Call or text (317) 374-0258

Do you deliver mulch, install it, or both?

Both. We can spread mulch in your beds, or deliver it so you can spread it yourself.

Do you edge beds when you mulch?

Yes. We can cut a fresh edge along your beds before the mulch goes down, which gives a crisp line and helps keep the mulch in place.

How often should mulch be refreshed?

Mulch breaks down over time, so most beds benefit from a fresh layer each year or every other year. If last year's layer is still thick, a lighter top-up is often enough.

How deep should mulch be?

Purdue Extension suggests about 2 to 3 inches in most beds. Keep it pulled back from tree trunks and plant stems instead of piling it up.

Can you mulch new plantings right after they go in?

Yes. Mulch is a common finishing step on new beds. See our landscape installation page for more on new beds.
